Nostalgic summer drinks recipes:

Many of you will remember Sodastream from the 80s, where 'getting busy with the fizzy' was everywhere and colour was unashamedly embraced - from outfits to drinks. Here we showcase three nostalgic drinks recipes, a Pepsi Ice Cream Float, a Blue Lagoon and a Shirley Temple, each made with your Sodastream.

Pepsi Ice-cream float recipe:

If you're looking for that hit of 80s nostalgia with a side of indulgence, this is the drink for you. Taking inspiration from the cherryade obsession of the 80s, we pair our Pepsi drink mix with vanilla ice cream for a sensationally delicious combination - but if you prefer, you can swap out the base flavour with any of our drink mixes such as Pepsi MAX Cherry or 7UP.

You’ll need:
Sodastream Pepsi drink mix (or your favourite flavour)
• Vanilla ice-cream

To make the Pepsi mixer: fill your Sodastream carbonating bottle with tap water to the first line on your bottle, fizz until at your desired fizziness (we recommend 3 pushes for a light fizz or 5 for really fizzy). (TIP: the colder your tap water, the fizzier it will get!). Then, add your Sodastream Pepsi drink mix (if using our bottles with the measuring cap, use half a cap per full bottle, if using our new easy-pour bottles, add to the second fill line on your carbonating bottle with drink mix, if using our new easy-pour bottles without a second fill line on your bottle, add around 1cm on your carbonating bottle, or 3 tablespoons of drink mix). Put the cap on and tip upside down to mix.

To make the Ice Cream Float, take a tumbler glass, add a few ice cubes, pour over the Sodastream Pepsi and top with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Stir to combine and enjoy!

Sodastream Blue Lagoon Recipe:

The garingly bright Blue Lagoon cocktail is a true 80s icon, and is really simple to make with your Sodastream.

You’ll need:
• Sodastream 7UP or 7UP Zero drink mix
• Vodka
• Blue Curacao

To make the 7UP mixer: fill your Sodastream carbonating bottle with tap water, fizz until at your desired fizziness (we recommend 3 pushes for a light fizz or 5 for really fizzy). (TIP: the colder your tap water, the fizzier it will get!). Then, add your Sodastream 7UP drink mix (if using our bottles with the measuring cap, use half a cap per full bottle, if using our new easy-pour bottles, add to the second fill line on your carbonating bottle with drink mix, if using the new easy-pour bottles without a second fill line on your bottle, add around 1cm on your carbonating bottle, or 3 tablespoons of drink mix). Put the cap on and tip upside down to mix.

To make the Blue Lagoon, fill a tall glass with ice cubes, add 25ml vodka and 25ml blue Curacao, then top with your Sodastream 7UP.

Shirley Temple recipe:

A great nostalgic non-alcoholic recipe, this one's great for anyone not drinking alcohol but still wanting a special drink.

You’ll need:
Sodastream Ginger Ale or No Sugar
• Grenadine syrup
• Maraschino cherry (optional)

To make the Ginger Ale mixer: fill your Sodastream carbonating bottle with tap water, fizz until at your desired fizziness (we recommend 3 pushes for a light fizz or 5 for really fizzy). (TIP: the colder your tap water, the fizzier it will get!). Then, add your Sodastream Ginger Ale drink mix (if using our bottles with the measuring cap, use half a cap per full bottle, if using our new easy-pour bottles, add to the second fill line with drink mix, if using the new easy-pour bottles without a second fill line on your bottle, add around 1cm on your carbonating bottle, or 3 tablespoons of drink mix). Put the cap on and tip upside down to mix.

NB: if using our regular Ginger Ale drink mix, be sure to tilt the bottle as you pour the drink mix in, and pour slowly to stop it fizzing over! (if you’re using the No Sugar Ginger Ale you don’t need to be so careful!)

To make the drink, fill a tall glass with ice and pour over the ginger ale slowly. Add a drizzle of grenadine and top with a Maraschino cherry. For full effect, add a cocktail umbrella too!
